Thankful Thursday

We are really thankful for good news about Reeve's health! This past month has been a crazy one. Some of you know, here is the short version for those who don't. On July 5th Reeve woke up and couldn't walk very well. He would go 7 or eight steps and then just collapse. Then he had a hard time getting up. We were staying at my parents house so we took him to the ER down there. They started out with x-rays, blood tests, then on to cat scans and a spinal tap. There is nothing worse than watching your child go through stuff like this. It was the worst! They found a few things on the cat scan and nothing else turned up. So they wanted us to have an MRI and go to Primary Children's. So the next week he had an MRI done in Logan and couldn't get in to Primary's until Aug 4th. We were told a few things about the MRI the next day. We were told a couple terms that are linked to MS(found with our own research). So for a month we were going crazy until we could go to Primary's. We saw two neurologists and they looked things over. They told us that we shouldn't have been given those terms and that MS was not the case. We were so relieved. They gave us a few technical terms for the stuff on the MRI, but it would be ok as far as they could tell. The radiologist are looking it over this week and will call just to be sure. He had a cold a few weeks before the incident. They told us they see a few kids a week at Primary's where they get a virus and it just attacks their system and this happens. The older the kids, the longer it will last.
We are feeling so grateful right now! Grateful for good health, and wonderful family and friends. We have felt so much love and concern this past month and we feel so blessed. We are also thankful for lessons learned during our experience. I keep thinking about the pride cycle and how sometimes the Lord compels us to be humble. We have been humbled! Our children have always been most important to us, but this experience has made us see that in a whole new light. Let me say it one more time...we feel so blessed! Our little blue eyed boy will be ok. He is so loved.
